Day 3 at NRB has been very exciting despite the exhausting schedule! My day started off very early…way too early for a night owl like myself! I went to bed last night very late, or should I say very early in the morning. The alarm went off at 6 AM and it was very hard to rise and shine. I ran out the door with damp hair and no makeup 30 minutes before the first interview. I was putting on makeup in the bathroom while my assistant Donna Botts gelled and “scrunched” my hair. It helps to have a multi-talented assistant! The first interview was with Simon Swart, the Executive Vice President of Twentieth Century Fox. They have lots of exciting movies coming out and he spoke specifically about The Fifth Quarter, the true story of Luke Abbate, who was a young football player at his high school…I don’t want to give away all the details but the movie comes out March 25, 2011. This is one you will not want to miss!
Then I had the privilege of interviewing Jenn Gotzon, who is co-starring with John Schneider in the upcoming release of Doonby. She is such an inspiration with truly beautiful inside and out. Jenn also starred in Frost/Nixon as Trish Nixon and has several movies coming out in 2011. Be sure to keep your eye out for this very talented actress.
The P&G/Walmart Family Movie Night was a big focus of today. I meet and interview Lance McAlindon, Front Porch Entertainment and Dan Merrill with Propeller in regards to this initiative of bringing family entertainment back to the industry. They have a new family movie night scheduled for April with the television movie “Truth be Told,” starring Candace Cameron Bure, David James Elliott and Ronny Cox. It will premiere on Fox April 16th at 8/7c.
My Premier1 Studios client, author & speaker Scotty Sanders, flew in today from Texas for media interviews on his upcoming book, One Focus Living. (working title). We had some national media interviews for Scotty and for myself as well and then met for coffee with some dear friends of mine that stopped by the convention, Gary and Kristen Myers who now live in the Nashville area. Gary is the Acquisitions Executive of Leafwood Publishers and Kristin is a book illustrator. Just a side note, a BIG note of thanks to Kristen, who was the heroine of the day! I needed to get our photos transferred from the camera to the computer and she literally walked all over the Gaylord Opryland Hotel to get this task completed.
In the evening, Angie DeBlieux, Scotty Sanders, and I attended the P&G/Walmart Family Movie Night dinner at Ravello sponsored by Propeller, a film marketing Company in Nashville. The meal was absolutely delicious and was followed by a wonderful ice cream dessert with fresh fruit and beignets. The funny thing is that the next event on the evening was an ice cream social sponsored by International Christian Visual Media. Of course I didn’t hesitate a minute to eat more ice cream! Had a great time catching up with other filmmaker friends including Mike and Paula Parker, Torry Martin, Chris Rogers, Kyle Saylors and Erica Lane, Malcolm Turner, Adam Drake and many more. I also enjoyed the chance to meet filmmaker Scotty Curlee whose film “The Potential Insider” previews on March 10, 2011 in Lynchburg, VA.
The night concluded with a concert with artists Mark Lowery, Nicole C. Mullen, Trinitee 5:7 and many more. It was my plan to attend but we stayed too long at the ice cream social so missed out on this event and I am such a Mark Lowery fan. Oh well. Did I mention there were lots of great sessions today…missed all those too because of the interviews. It has been another very eventful day at the NRB! It is hard to believe there is just one more day! Time has flown by and soon it will be time to travel home but until then…I will enjoy the remaining time to the max!
